Configure Columns Feature in Zymmr

The "Configure columns" feature in the "Search across work items" screen helps you customize the columns displayed in the search results. This feature is represented by three vertical lines and provides flexibility in viewing and managing work items.

Steps to Configure Columns

  1. Access Configure Columns:

    • Go to the "Search across work items" screen.
    • Click on the three vertical lines icon to open the column configuration menu.
  2. Choose Columns:

    • A list of fields from the work item table will be displayed.
    • Select the fields you want to add to the search screen by checking the corresponding checkboxes.
  3. View Default Columns:

    • There is an option to view the default columns, which include:
      • Type
      • Title
      • Start Date
      • End Date
      • Primary Assignee
      • Status
  4. Select Mode:

    • My Defaults:
      • Choose a set of fields as your default view. These selections will be saved for your personal use.
    • System Mode:
      • Select this mode to configure columns for all users. A message will be displayed: "You are on System mode. The column changes may affect the users."

Example Use Case

  1. Scenario:

    • You want to customize the columns displayed in the "Search across work items" screen to include additional fields like "Priority" and "Estimated Effort."
  2. Steps:

    1. Access Configure Columns: Click on the three vertical lines icon.
    2. Choose Columns: Select "Priority" and "Estimated Effort" by checking the corresponding checkboxes.
    3. Select Mode:
      • If you want this view only for yourself, choose "My Defaults."
      • If you want this view for all users, select "System Mode" and acknowledge the message.
    4. Save Configuration: Your chosen columns will now be displayed in the search results.
